Room Data Sheets SmartTool

RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to capture the details and requirements for each space in a design. They are usually created by the client during the briefing stage (also called architectural programing in the US) of the design process. They could be revised throughout the design to reflect modifications or to provide an easier understanding to those who are responsible for delivering a project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows you to create rooms (or space), data sheets using a Revit project. It is a fast and precise tool that can be used for sheets, elevations and schedule views. The tool is able to generate 3D plans elevations, sheets, and schedule views of spaces or rooms.

By default the tool will employ the Room Numbering template as well as the Sheet Format determined by the Revit project, however, a different sheet name and style can be selected from the Tool Options tab. Click ‘Load configuration …’ on the toolbar to replace the current settings with previously saved configurations. This can reduce the amount of manual work needed for each different room or space type http://www.searchstreams.info/data-stream-management-system/ and size.

The tab ‘Naming’ allows the user to choose if the space or room is included in the Sheet Name text box that is located on the left of the screen. The ‘View Title option defines what text appears in the title bar for each view. View Increment specifies the number of increments between each view on the sheet. The ‘Spacing’ option allows you to control the space between each view. The ‘Exclude Titles from Estimating View Sizes for Sheets’ option will ensure that titles are not included in the calculation of the number of views on sheets.
